its beginning to sound ....and feel a lot like christmas,
catalogs in every mail box....and the people that you met ....on the street all ask for money!...
its beginning to be a lot like xmas, oh yeah.....

yes my mailbox is overflowing with catalogs, and everyone wants me to send them money for you-name-it.....well not a chance!
and now gotta start getting people gifts, ugh.
It was soooo nice when we were kids and you didnt have to get gifts for everyone, make sure they want it, make sure it has a gift receipt (just incase the get 2--heck I never minded get 2 of most gifts, got lots of doubles, triples, quads of plushies much to the hubbys dismay)......

did I mention I dislike xmas now?

gotta go and order some more 'gifts'......sigh

I remember when I worked in Idaho for a bank processing checks and the power went out in the whole city....they let us leave the 2nd time it happened because too many people were bumping into things....was better than sitting around in the dark hoping the lights would come back on (and yeah they did pay us....but we got a tiny base salary and the rest was commission so no work =no pay).

its friday night....I made some rice krispy treats for my hubbys friends and got to sneak a mini marshmallow (not on the diet, but if its gonna kill me--ok I will be dead)....sweet.

You don't get paid for holidays like thanksgiving ?

Got a 1 hour geography test tomorrow on Europe, shouldn't be too hard. Next week we were supposed to have an english test on the passive voice + the US elections but it got scheduled for the week after, so next week we will only have an annoying math test.

Time for dinner ^^.

Nope, I don't get paid time off. As of now anyway. Since I'm basically still an intern, even though I'm not. HR stuff is sloooooooooooooooooow.

I may out for a little bit on Black Friday. Want to find a cheap TV. That would be fun.

I get paid for holidays no matter if I work them or not, its just that if I do work on those days its Double Time and a Half pay. =3

the policy on whether or not you get paid for days off (holidays, sick, vacation) depends solely on the company you work for and whatever devilish scheme they have worked out that makes it sound good to the employee but still screws said employee somehow....

lots of companies dont pay for holidays unless you meet certain qualifications ---years of employment, type of employment (hourly vs salaried), type of company (government, big company, small company etc).....

that being said ....when I worked as a temp I never got paid for holidays (if you arent at work you dont get paid), when I worked in japan--I was salaried so I got paid the same each month regardless of how many days I worked (or didnt)....some companies I worked for said you had to work there a full year before you got any kind of benefits like that (sick days, vacation etc)....one of the companies I worked for (like unlucky) I got paid time +1/2 for working on holidays (and after 'regular' hours double time

).

so for the diatribe, but I worked in HR for a bunch of years and its hard to break habits I guess.

shopping....planning on going out on monday....have to get groceries on tuesday (and doc appt)....otherwise not planning on leaving the condo until next week after that ....xmas shopping is done either online or over the phone....I dont do malls anymore (ok I do have to get over to that linens place for some sheets and towels, but its a mini-mall so that doesnt count).

so nope...black friday will be like anyother friday for me (hubby will be home, I will sleep in as late as I can....).

I only ever get paid for July 4th since that is the only time I am working lol

My gfs formal was last night. It was on a riverboat, so we even sailed for 2 hours. It was pretty awesome. Alot of fun, minus the dressing up part of course.

today was my mommies birthday, 81 years young.....and deaf as a doornail....well SOMEthing had to go as she aged!

sent her a nice card and some tea and preserves (just moved her into her new digs in september and she has no room for much else!).....

pretty quiet tonight on guru....everyone playing (gw or something else...or wait it IS saturday night.....)???
